Vago Mexicano Mezcal, 750ML
Vago Mexicano has a nose of peaches and cinnamon, a silky body, a well-balanced palate of ocean breeze and hot desert rocks with a finish of toasted vanilla and caramel. The agave Mexicano that Aquilino uses for this Mezcal is sourced from his and his neighbor’s farm in Candelaria Yegolé. This strain is native to not just the region or the valley, but that actual hillside. Though cultivated, this agave is quite rare.

About This Producer:
Mezcal Vago began when co-founder Judah Kuper visited a hospital in Oaxaca, Mexico. He'd had an ear infection and he ended up falling in love with the nurse who treated him. This nurse had a father named Aquilino who made mezcal in the rural village of Candeleria Yegole. The two of them worked together to create the brand. On the front label of each of their bottles, all the information is there about who made it, what pueblo, what agave, details in the process, size of batch and more. This information may vary by batch. They aim to empower both the master craftsmen with a celebration of his art, and also the consumer by giving them the knowledge they need to find a great mezcal. Beginning in the late spring of 2017, Vago began using different color labels for their different mezcaleros. Emigdio distills in copper with refrescador. Aquilino and Joel Barriga distill in copper. Tio Rey distills in clay pots.
