Vago Tepeztate Mezcal, 750ML
Mezcal Vago Tepeztate is made by Aquilino García López at his palenque in Candelaria Yegolé. This mezcal is made from 100% Tepeztate and is wild harvested in the surrounding hills of the Yegolé region. According to Aquilino, the agave Tepeztate average 12-15 years to mature in this region. Because of the scarcity of mature agave, and the difficulty in harvesting them, these batches are small and not always available. Emidgio Jarquin also makes a Tepeztate for Vago, but his batches are even more rare.

About This Producer:
It is their belief that all Mezcal should be clear and unaged, so everything they make is Joven. They believe that storing or aging Mezcal in wood should be avoided, as it chemically alters the Mezcal, adding flavors that traditionally were not there. On the front label of each of their bottles, all the information is there about who made it, what pueblo, what agave, details in the process, size of batch and more. This information may vary by batch. This is connoisseur mezcal. They aim to empower both the master craftsmen with a celebration of his art, and also the consumer by giving them the knowledge they need to find a great mezcal. All of their mezcals are joven (young) and clear. Beginning in the late spring of 2017, Vago began using different color labels for their different mezcaleros. Emigdio distills in copper with refrescador. Aquilino distills in copper. Tio Rey distills in clay pots.
