Bruxo No. 2 is not a typical Pechuga.  Unlike almost every other Mezcal going by this name, Bruxo No. 2 contains no meat.  The signature chicken breast of other Pechugas is not present in this Mezcal.  That said, this is still a wonderful Mezcal that just happens to have slightly confusing name.  Instead of the chicken breast traditionally used in other Pechugas, this Mezcal is referring to the breast of the Maguey. After distilling their classic Espadin, the Pechuga de Maguey is steeped for several days with freshly roasted agave that are split down the middle to expose the heart (or breast) of the plant. This Mezcal has rich sweet flavors of roasted agave with a subtle smokiness. The color is slightly off clear due to the infusion of agave “breast.”

this is one i didnt give credit to at first.freshly opened and seemed like a good but average mezcal.personality of an espadin.it sat on my shelf for about a year and decided to give it a second try.wow!it really picked up a lot of complex notes.the nose had faint smoke over grilled fruit.the entry was vanilla and sweet pepper and mid way there were citrus notes of orange and lemon.the agave was expressed more on the finish and very silky.i am repeating myself but a mezcal can really change for…

The lot number is hard to read as it’s written in black pen on a black label. It looks like Lot 5554. Don’t let the odd coloration of this mezcal turn you off. The nose is clean with a bit of orange peel and vanilla notes that are nice and light. The mouthfeel is well-balanced and smooth. Tasting notes include vanilla, caramel, and sweet green peppers. This is absolutely worth a taste.

Copper and orange citrus on the nose. Velvety on the palate. This interesting Bruxo has notes of vanilla, caramel, and jalapeño. It finishes very smoothly. I’m a huge fan of all the Bruxo mezcals as they taste very clean with well-defined flavors. I was expecting some wild new flavors from this unique “pechuga” and while those weren’t apparent to me this is nonetheless a delicious mezcal.
