El Jolgorio Mexicano smells of roasted agave and maple. It is made agave Mexicano (Dobadaan), which grows to be quite large.  This Mezcal is straightforward and right down the middle with hints of light smoke, citrus, and peppers.

Would have liked to have given this 3.75/5. Didnt care for the finish. Smell was also a little light for me.

This Mexicano felt very soft and crackly when your first touch it to your lips. You then start getting strong notes of cocao, cinnamon, chocolate cream, with some small hints of lime and ginger. The cocao flavor stands out the most to me. The softness is delicious and this bottle is definitely worth adding to the collection. Everything from El Jolgorio has been nothing short of amazing. This Mexicano is no different.

The nose is piney (pine sap), super spicy, mineral, lemon zest, along with some vegetal, roasted agave notes poking through. Roasted agave is more apparent on the taste as well as milk chocolate, juicy fruit gum, lemon/lime, mineral, and some berry fruit notes. Finish is long, semi-dry, ashy mint, a little soapy, and a tad strident. This Mexicano has a thin body but is extremely oily. All-in-in-all: Delicious!

Solid but not worth the price. Would rather go with the Marca Negra

Lot 09. Ignacio Parada. Fresh berries, strawberries and raspberries, fresh mint, and wet forest leaves. Excellent Mexicano!

edition 6, 2014, 47.1% abv, ignacio parada. smells like a warm greenhouse full of agave and rocks, with a waft of boozy sweetness somewhere between acetone and floral notes. quite nice on the nose. light and smooth on the palate. vegetal sweetness, slightly toasty, mineral-heavy finish. leaves a nice aftertaste. very pleasant all around. trying not to let my love of other mexicano expressions weigh on my ranking of this. this is an easy 4, but relative to other mexicanos i’ve had that are among my favorites (mezcalero special #2, marca negra, vago), this verges on negligible. more a testament to how good those other ones are than anything else.
