Rey Campero Mezcal
This madrecuixe mezcal has a literal mouth-watering effect. It is very sweet and reminds me of cherry cola. It is not grassy like you might expect from an agave karwinskii mezcal. Tasted this next to a Vago madrecuixe and the Vago was much more complex. This isn’t bad but it isn’t worth the $130/bottle retail price tag.
Floral nose and very milky on the palate. This mezcal is loose and freewheeling. I like it a lot. It’s has some forward sweet notes and notes of rose pedals and tangerine. Some umami mixes with the velvety texture.
A clean/focused mescal. Very smooth with a smoky hit, followed by a long, slightly citrusy finish.
