very good mezcal.i find this brand to be like a close cousin to vago.very similar in taste but some small differences.the heat is up front.evergreen notes and lots of black pepper.finish is sweet and minty.very warming in the chest.clean taste but stout.continue to consume this in one evening will put you on your ass quick.the price is a steal.i have tried other varieties of this brand and they are top notch.

Quite anonymous notes of vanilla, marzipan and smoke. Floral palate.

Lot 20-SJR – Smoke with some sour cherry rubber. 49% ABV with personality but no sass. Dry tart finish. Definitely prefer the SLR batch. They also have yet another batch from San Baltazar. This brand has zero transparency so buy at your own risk!

Lot 05-SLR – Lots of green vegetal notes on the nose. Quite smooth for 50% ABV. Not incredibly complex but also no flaws. Vanilla and smoke forward with some flavors of burnt caramel. Finish is on the dry side with a touch of firewood. I like this one but it is quite down the middle – still, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
