Vago Madre Cuixe is made by either Aquilino García López or Emigdio Jarquin, depending on the batch. Both of these mezcaleros make this mezcal with 100% agave Madrecuixe. This wild agave takes between 12-15 years to mature, and typically grows in lower, hotter climates locally known as tierra caliente. Madrecuixe (and other Karwinskiis agave) are not commonly cultivated for mezcal production, however they are often seen planted on property lines as their tall profiles can serve as a living fence. Mezcal made from this agave is typically vegetal in nature. Batches of this mezcal are small and rare.
